Ghana's a warm, friendly, welcoming and culturally rich country
Ghana is a colourful, vibrant and very lively country. It offers rainforest, wildlife, golden coast and a rich culture. Ghana is one of the most traveller-friendly countries in West Africa, it is English-speaking, politically stable and affordable. An excellent travel guide to Ghana is the Ghana@50 by JKY Anderson
You can visit the noisy, bustling capital city Accra with open-air markets, museums, arts centre, chop bars and beach to the Kakum National Park in the rainforest with an amazing canopy walkway. Ghana's coast has beautiful, palm-lined golden beaches and also the historically haunting Cape Coast and Elmina castles. All of these attractions are only a few hours from the Kotoka International Airport.
Moving north through the country the geography changes from humid rainforest to drier savannah. The city Kumasi has the largest open-air market in Africa selling everything you can imagine from giant snails to beautiful batik prints. The Mole Game Reserve is a must if you are visiting the north of Ghana. There are excellent guides and you will get the chance to see elephants, baboons, roam antelopes and lots of other wildlife.
