1. Description of the scholarship programmes
Split-cost scholarship programmes
Within the framework of academic cooperation between France and Ghana, the French Embassy in Accra will offer some scholarships of excellence to Ghanaian students at Master and PhD levels for 2010-2011. Split-cost scholarships will be awarded, providing full coverage of social benefits and free tuition at public universities.
Deadline for applications Applications must reach the French Embassy in Accra before 30th March 2010.
BENEFITS
The Embassy will provide:
free visa
university registration fees
health insurance
a return flight for each stay
The Ghanaian partner (university, government or private company) will take care of : a monthly allowance of at least 760 € (1000 USD) for living expenses for his/her whole stay
In the case of certain split-cost scholarhips, half of the living allowance
NUMBER OF SCHOLARPSHIPS
10: 2 for a Master’s and 8 for a PhD
DURATION
For a Master’s, 2 stays of 12 months
For a PhD, 3 times 6 months over a three-year period
2. Conditions of application
Age limit: 40 years maximum

Remark: Protocols of agreement have already been signed between Ghanaian universities and Paris I, Paris XI, ESTP, Grenoble School of Management.
Academic level
Master- Doctorate
Mastering of French: There is a French department in each of the three main universities, where students can master survival French. Master students are encouraged to choose a programme taught in English. Language is no longer a concern for PhD students since they can do their research and write their thesis in English.
Other Conditions:
Students will be given priority according to their field of study in French-Ghanaian cooperation, especially within a protocol of agreement between French and Ghanaian institutions.

Deadline: 30th March 2010
Compulsory documents:
Full academic application, with a resume, copies of diplomas, copies of birth certificate Pre-registration with a French university or engineering school Reference letter from a Ghanaian University Proof of means provided by the Ghanaian university or personal (at least 760 € per month - 1000 USD - for the entire course)
Selection
A selection committee will be set up by the French Embassy: the list of awards will be published on the Embassy website www.ambafrance-gh.org on April 30th 2010
