H. E. GENEVIEVE TSEGAH GHANA AMBASSADOR DESIGNATE TO FRANCE

Mrs. Genevieve Tsegah was born on 8th August, 1951, and had her secondary education at Aburi Girls' Secondary School for her 'O' Level Certificate and Achimota School for her 'A' Level Certificate. She obtained a B.A. Degree in French and Spanish from the University of Ghana, Legon, and then later, in 1982, obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of Nairobi.

She joined the Foreign Service in 1977 and worked at the Information and Culture Bureau for four years. In January 1981, she was promoted to a Branch A4 Officer and moved to the Middle East and Asia Bureau. She served at the Protocol Department and also at the Americas Bureau and in 1989, became the Head of Chancery, Economic, Protocol and Information Counselor at the Ghana Embassy in Cotonou.

In December 1993, Mrs. Tsegah was promoted to a Branch A2 Officer and became a Deputy Director for the Trade and Investment Bureau. From August 1996 to September 2000, she served as Minister Counselor and Head of Chancery at the Ghana Embassy in Cotonou. She was promoted to a Branch A1 Officer in November 2000 and has since served in various capacities such as Director, Economic, Trade and Investment Bureau, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Chancery, Ghana Embassy, Ouagadougou and the Supervising Director for the Economic Relations Department.

She has participated in several conferences and seminars on economic development, trade and investment promotion and on regional integration, first as a Deputy Director and later as the Director of the former Economic, Trade and Investment Bureau.

She has also participated in the drafting of Permanent Joint Commission documents, the holding of the session and the implementation of the ensuing Protocols. She is married with four children and enjoys reading and traveling.

E the saying goes, every long road comes to an end and so is my long stay in France. FEDGHAF bids farewell to H.E Prof OWUSU SARPONG.

prof. owusuGhana’s Ambassador to France, H.E Professor OWUSU SARPONG, invited the Executive Council of FEDGHAF as well as a delegation of community leaders to his residence on Friday 6th February 2009 for an informal cocktail during which he informed them of his departure.

Much as his departure was foreseeable following the change of government, the announcement came as a surprise as the delegation was not expecting this to come so soon.

The General Secretary, Mr. KOFFI SETODJI, on behalf of FEDGAF, conveyed to His Excellency the gratitude of members Associations for initiating the idea of a united body of all Ghanaians. The General Secretary also emphasized that the formation of the Federation of Ghanaian Associations in France could not have been possible without his fatherly counsel.

The Ambassador exhorted the Executive Council and the community leaders to ensure that unity and peace prevailed within the Ghanaian community. He thanked Ghanaians in France for the support given to him during his stay.

The Organizing Secretary on behalf of FEDGHAF presented to Prof OWUSU SARPONG a specially knitted FEDGHAF KENTE muffler. Mrs. Georgina ATTAH, on behalf of member associations presented two pieces of cloth to His Excellency and his wife.

Also present were senior members of staff from the Embassy.
